Argyle Winery was established in 1987 by Rollin Soles, who set out to craft world class sparkling wine in the cool climate of Oregon's Willamette Valley. Soles deliberately planted on the fringes of viable viticulture, using late-ripening Dijon clones to preserve natural acidity and mineral structure, a bold choice at the time that helped define Argyle's style. That approach has earned the winery recognition as one of the top producers of sparkling wine outside Champagne, alongside acclaim for its still Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

The Willamette Valley Brut is part of Argyle's entry tier of sparkling wines, built for fresh, early drinking rather than extended aging. The blend leans heavily on Pinot Noir, filled out with small portions of Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier, all crafted using the traditional méthode champenoise. The wine spends time aging on its lees to build texture and complexity before disgorgement, a shorter process than Argyle's longer aged tirage bottlings but one that still delivers real depth.

In the glass the wine shows a pale copper gold hue, with aromas of shortbread, sweet apple, and strawberry rhubarb pie layered over gentle baking spice. The palate is vibrant and balanced, closing with citrus zest and a subtle saline note that keeps the finish lively. Its bright acidity and food-friendly structure make it a natural match for oysters, fried appetizers, or a leisurely brunch spread.

90 Points
"Appealing for its easygoing flavors of apple, cherry blossoms and spiced cinnamon that linger at length. Drink now. 19,000 cases made."
