The 2022 La Staffa Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Rincrocca delivers structured dry white wine expression directly from fifty-year-old Verdicchio vines planted in 1972 within the Castellaretta zone of Staffolo, Marche.

This single-vineyard site preserves two authentic Verdicchio clones no longer cultivated anywhere else. Owner and winemaker Riccardo Baldi farms the roughly twelve-hectare estate entirely organically, harvesting grapes by hand into small crates and pressing them immediately to protect juice integrity. Spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts occurs in raw cement tanks. The wine remains in those same vessels for approximately twelve months before spending an additional year aging in bottle.

Expect a pale straw hue releasing an intense, refined bouquet of yellow blossoms, damp limestone, and toasted almond. The palate balances bracing natural acidity against a sleek, linear mid-weight, concluding with a velvety finish dominated by stewed quince, crushed chalk, and a distinct saline kiss.

Serve chilled as an aperitif, or pair the wine’s crisp mineral backbone with shellfish dishes, grilled white fish preparations, and herb-roasted chicken.
