2022 La Staffa "Rincrocca" · Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Riserva Classico DOCG

Region Staffolo, Le Marche, Italy
Producer La Staffa (Riccardo Baldi)
Grape 100% Verdicchio
Vineyard Contrada Castellaretta, single 2-hectare site, 420m elevation, vines planted 1972
Aging 12 months on fine lees in cement, minimum 24 months in bottle

Rincrocca is La Staffa's flagship — a selection from the estate's oldest Verdicchio vines, planted with five distinct clones, two of which exist nowhere else. Farmed organically on high-altitude clay-limestone soil in the historic Castellaretta vineyard, the wine is built for both immediate enjoyment and the cellar, in the mold of fine Chablis. Bright straw-gold in the glass, the 2022 opens with yellow peach, white flowers, citrus, and crushed limestone, framed by saline minerality and racy acidity. The palate is elegant, layered, and persistent, finishing long with the characteristic bittersweet almond note of top-tier Verdicchio. A serious, age-worthy white that rewards both oysters and aged cheeses alike.
