2024 Domaine Pecheur - Trousseau Cotes du Jura (750ml)
Domaine Pêcheur began producing wine in 1976 from a single hectare in the village of Darbonnay, in the Côtes du Jura. Christian and Patricia Pêcheur have since grown it to about eight hectares across Darbonnay and Passenans, with a small holding in Château-Chalon. Christian trained at the wine school in Beaune and returned to the family domaine in 1992, and the estate is farmed organically.
Trousseau is one of the Jura's signature red grapes, prized for its spicy, structured character. The Pêcheur version is fermented spontaneously with native yeasts in stainless steel, then aged entirely in used demi-muids, large barrels that add texture without imparting oak flavor. The wine is bottled just before the following harvest, preserving its freshness and its earthy clarity. Vines root in the marl and limestone soils typical of the appellation, which lend the wine its mineral tension.
Cherry, raspberry, and red currant lead the aromas, with plum and a hint of licorice adding depth. The palate is light on its feet yet carries the grape's typical breadth of structure, with fine acidity and an earthy, mineral finish.
