NV Roederer Estate - Anderson Valley Brut (750ml)
Roederer Estate was founded in 1982 as the California outpost of Champagne Louis Roederer, established in Mendocino County's cool, fog-shrouded Anderson Valley. The estate remains family owned and built its reputation on two guiding principles: farming its own vineyards entirely and blending oak-aged reserve wines into each release, a method carried over directly from the house's Champagne tradition.
This non-vintage Brut is a blend of roughly sixty percent Chardonnay and forty percent Pinot Noir, grown entirely on the estate's own land and pressed using the same gentle cuvée-only method practiced in Champagne. Fermentation happens in stainless steel with little to no malolactic conversion, preserving natural acidity, and the wine spends a minimum of two years aging on the lees before release, folding in ten to fifteen percent reserve wine from prior vintages along the way.
The nose opens with baked bread, toasted almond, and ripe pear, layered over citrus blossom and a touch of spice. On the palate, green apple and lemon peel meet a creamy, fine-beaded mousse, finishing long, dry, and mineral driven. It suits oysters, roasted poultry, or simply a quiet toast on its own.
