Rui Reguinga is one of Portugal's most respected winemakers, a third-generation vigneron who studied agronomy in Lisbon and pursued postgraduate winemaking studies in Porto and Bordeaux before consulting across the country's major regions. In 2004 he founded his own project, Terrenus, after finally securing a handful of ancient vineyard plots in Portalegre, a remote, mountainous corner of northeastern Alentejo that had been nearly forgotten by modern winemaking. Reguinga has since become a leading voice for reviving this cooler, high-altitude terroir and its old vine heritage.

Terrenus Branco is a field blend drawn from vines planted within the Serra de São Mamede Natural Park, at elevations between roughly 600 and 850 meters, where granite and schist soils and cooling mountain air preserve freshness rarely found elsewhere in Alentejo. The vineyards are farmed organically, without herbicides, and the many interplanted native white varieties are hand harvested and fermented at controlled temperatures to protect their natural acidity and aromatic character. The result is a wine that reflects Portalegre's distinct, cooler mesoclimate rather than the riper, broader style typical of the surrounding lowland plains.

The 2021 shows an intense nose of stone fruit and citrus with a subtle floral lift, carrying through to a palate that is harmonious and smooth yet framed by a fresh, mineral finish. There is real textural weight here, balanced by good acidity that keeps the wine lively rather than heavy. It pairs naturally with grilled fish, roast pork, or a plate of soft goat cheese, and its bright structure also makes it a versatile match for lighter seafood dishes.
