Emilio Lustau traces its roots to 1896, when Don José Ruiz-Berdejo began as an almacenista, aging and selling wine from his small estate outside Jerez de la Frontera to larger exporting houses. In the 1940s his son-in-law moved operations into the old Santiago quarter of the city, and by the 1950s the firm had grown into Emilio Lustau SA, joining the ranks of established Sherry exporters. Under later management the house became known for pioneering single-cask Almacenista bottlings.

Los Arcos is made entirely from Palomino Fino grapes and takes its name from the twin arches that once framed the entrance to the bodega where it ages. The wine spends roughly four years developing under a protective layer of flor before being transferred to a solera where it ages oxidatively for another four years, gradually deepening in color and concentrating its nutty character.

The result is a medium amber Sherry with aromas of hazelnut and dried apricot, layered with a touch of wood and smoky raisin. Bone dry on the palate, it stays soft and round, with bright acidity carrying through to a long finish. Serve it lightly chilled alongside cured ham, aged cheeses, or grilled artichokes.
