Cantenac Brown, Margaux with a Scottish soul

With its spectacular Tudor-style château, a legacy of its Scottish founder John-Lewis Brown, Cantenac Brown is one of Margaux’s most distinctive estates. Around this emblematic building, 60 hectares of vines stretch across the prestigious plateaux of Margaux and Cantenac.

Since 2019, José Sanfins, a key figure at the estate for more than thirty years, and Tristan Le Lous, its owner and a passionate wine enthusiast, have shared the same ambition: to raise this Third Growth Classified Growth to the highest level. A symbol of this new era, the zero-carbon raw-earth cellar, launched in 2020, embodies a quest for excellence where viticultural precision and environmental commitment go hand in hand.

The 2025 vintage :

The 2025 vintage benefited from a mild and sufficiently rainy winter, allowing the soils to replenish their water reserves. The spring was more changeable, alternating between mild periods and wetter spells, requiring close attention in the vineyard. The summer then provided very favorable conditions for grape ripening, with sunny days and cooler nights, enabling steady maturity while preserving beautiful natural acidity. Despite the summer drought, the vines and terroirs showed strong resistance and resilience.

Tasting notes

The first tastings reveal a wine of great aromatic purity. The nose opens with vibrant fruit, dominated by notes of fresh black fruit, accompanied by delicate floral nuances.
On the palate, the texture is elegant and precise. The tannic structure, fine and silky, gives the wine great refinement while allowing a beautiful freshness to come through

96-97 Points
"Extremely well made, with a solid core of fruit, fine tannins, precision and tension. The new winery is really showing its substance now. Long and persistent. One of the best wines I have had from here"
