Château Giscours: A Unique Estate Surrounded by a Thriving and Pristine Ecosystem

Although the history of Château Giscours dates back to the 14th century, its true destiny as a wine estate began in 1552, when Pierre de Lhomme planted the first vines there. In 1995, Eric Albada Jelgersma acquired the property, restructuring the vineyard and restoring the buildings, thereby opening a new chapter for this 3rd Grand Cru Classé of Margaux, now run by his children alongside Alexander Van Beek.

Impressive in scale, Giscours is as much a place of life as it is a great wine estate. Its 95 hectares of vines form part of a preserved ecosystem, at the heart of a remarkable haven of biodiversity made up of forests and a park designed in 1870 by Eugène Bühler. The wines reflect this setting: they express the identity of the place, with the Grand Vin offering a unique signature, combining aromatic brilliance with finely textured tannins.

2025 marks thirty years of the Albada Jelgersma family's stewardship at Giscours, a long horizon of vision and constancy that continues to shape the estate’s quiet authority.

The 2025 Vintage, imperturbable

At Giscours, the 2025 vintage stands naturally among the estate’s defining successes. It reflects the authority of an exceptional terroir, the coherence of long-standing agronomic and oenological commitments, and the assured judgement of a team accustomed to navigating demanding balances.

Deeply Bordeaux in character, Château Giscours 2025 reveals precision of expression and natural elegance. The tannic grain unfolds with near-tactile finesse, structuring the palate with authority and restraint. Aromatics incline toward blue fruits, reflecting fully achieved ripeness. A saline tension, supported by vibrant acidity of great purity, extends the palate into a persistent finish.

2025 carries the stature of a great Château Giscours vintage: Precise. Vibrant. Imperturbable.

95-97 Points
"The 2025 Giscours is another magnificent wine for a château that has made giant steps in the last handful of years. Plush and succulent in the glass, with silky, exceptionally polished tannins and stunning mid-palate richness, the Giscours is pure and total sensuality. Dark red-toned fruit, pomegranate, spice, new leather, incense and dried flowers all race across the palate. The purity of the flavors is just remarkable. Tasted two times"
