Grand-Puy-Lacoste, a grand cru that delights every wine lover

Grand-Puy-Lacoste has a family history dating back to the 16th century. Its 64-hectare vineyard, in a single block around the Château, has remained unchanged since the 1855 Classification. Since 1978, the Borie family has continued the estate’s renaissance, led by François-Xavier Borie, through major investments designed to reveal the full quality of this great Pauillac terroir.

2025 marks a major milestone in the history of Grand-Puy-Lacoste. This vintage is the first to be vinified in the new gravity-fed vat room, one of the most structurally significant projects undertaken by the estate over the past decade. Now comprising 24 stainless-steel vats, it enables a more precise plot-by-plot approach, with suitably adapted capacities of 99 hl and 76 hl. To celebrate this turning point, the 2025 vintage will be presented in a screen-printed bottle, symbolising the union of family tradition, innovation and the distinctive expression of Grand-Puy-Lacoste’s terroir.
The "Variation" Box, the perfect gift

Each year during the en primeur campaign, there is the opportunity to package the wines in the famous 'Caisse Variation'. Developed exclusively for the estate and its wines, this case holds the equivalent of 12 bottles (9 liters) and includes: 1 Double Magnum, 2 Magnums, and 4 Bottles, all elegantly arranged in a wooden case. Whether it's for Grand-Puy-Lacoste or the more budget-friendly Lacoste-Borie, this case format is ideal for gifting on occasions such as births, weddings, anniversaries, or other special events.

The 2025 vintage : a new gravity-flow winery

The 2025 vintage at Grand-Puy-Lacoste stands out for the record-breaking early start to the harvest, driven by a growing cycle that was already well advanced from spring onwards. After a mild and relatively dry winter, the spring, also dry, helped maintain excellent vineyard health and encouraged steady vine growth. The estate is also continuing its agro-ecological approach with the introduction of vitipastoralism, using a flock of 100 sheep to graze naturally across certain plots.

Tasting notes

Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste 2025 is once again defined by a high proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon (76%), placing it firmly in the lineage of the estate’s greatest vintages, combining depth, precision and elegance. The palate is ample and structured, revealing fine tannins and a beautiful freshness, a true signature of the terroir. A refined, complete and harmonious wine, faithful to the château’s style.

95-97 Points
"The 2025 Grand-Puy-Lacoste reveals a classic, refined bouquet of cassis, dark berries, cedar and lead pencil, with discreet floral nuances. Medium- to full-bodied, structured and precise, it’s built around a well-defined core of fruit framed by finely grained, youthful, filigreed tannins with a tensile profile. Less demonstrative than some of its peers in Pauillac, it privileges balance and typicity over sheer power, concluding with a long, elegant and mineral finish. Produced from a blend of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon and 24% Merlot, this is the first vintage vinified in the estate’s new gravity-fed cellar, enabling more precise parcel selection—an evolution that appears to reinforce the wine’s precision and coherence.
