2019 Cervantes - Red Blend Napa Blacktail (750ml)
From Cervantes Family Vineyards on a 1,100-acre Pope Valley ranch, the 2019 Blacktail Red Blend captures Napa Valley’s rugged, less-traveled terroir. This vintage-driven wine evolves each year as winemaker Andy Erickson selects the lots that best express the season. In 2019, Blacktail is composed of 41% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Petite Sirah, 17% Malbec, 11% Petit Verdot, and 9% Cabernet Franc.
A mild winter with generous rains gave the vines a strong start, and a long, even growing season—without frost or heat spikes—allowed the fruit to ripen slowly and evenly before harvest.
The finished wine is deep garnet in color, layered with licorice, baking spices, sandalwood, and gravel over a core of black cherry, cassis, and baked blueberry. The palate stays structured yet approachable, with a juicy center and firm tannins built for the cellar.
