Benjamin Leroux built his négociant house into one of Burgundy's most closely watched addresses after leaving Comte Armand in 2013, sourcing exceptional parcels across the Côte d'Or and vinifying each with the same hands-on precision as a domaine. Les Vireuils sits on the northern edge of Meursault, bordering Volnay, and typically shows a touch more finesse and floral lift than fruit from the village's warmer, southern lieux-dits. The 2023 shows citrus, white peach, and orchard blossom on the nose, with a bright, energetic palate, fine acidity, and a long, mineral finish. A precise, terroir-driven expression of village Meursault from one of Burgundy's most talented young négociants.

90 Points
"This is notably cooler on the more citrus-infused nose where the white-fleshed fruit and more floral aromas offer just a bit more layering. There is excellent underlying tension to the overtly mineral-driven middle weight flavors that conclude in a moderately austere, compact and youthfully austere finale. In contrast to the straight Meursault that could reasonably be approached young, this beauty is going to need at least a few years of bottle aging."
