2020 l'Erta di Radda - Chianti Classico Riserva
Grown at roughly 430 meters elevation in Radda, the 2020 l’Erta di Radda Chianti Classico Riserva captures the marked minerality and structured elegance typical of this central Tuscan commune. Winemaker Diego Finocchi tends these replanted Sangiovese vines on clayey, sandy soil blends rich in galestro, alberese, and naturally occurring iron. The extended maceration period runs approximately 45 days before the wine matures for two full years in 2,000-liter traditional oak casks, a deliberate timeline that integrates firm tannins while preserving fresh acidity.
On the nose, dark chocolate and baking spice give way to dried red cherry, tobacco leaf, and sandalwood, layered over a distinctive ferrous undertone. The palate delivers a compact, tenacious frame where tight tannic grip and zesty acid balance each other for long traction. Designed specifically for savory dining, this Riserva pairs reliably with braised beef, roasted duck thighs, or sharp aged cheeses like Pecorino Toscano.
