2023 Chateau Lagrave Martillac Blanc – Pessac (750ml)

This is the second wine of Latour Martillac. The 2023 vintage brought a white Bordeaux with lively aroma and refined balance, developed through a season that began with hot, humid spring conditions challenging mildew control, then improved in the second half as grapes reached ideal ripeness. Winter was mostly mild, with two frost nights in April that caused no damage thanks to protective equipment. Harvest windows were Sauvignon-Blanc: August 28 to September 11 and Sémillon: September 4 to 12.

Blend and production

50% Sauvignon Blanc, 50% Sémillon.

Tasting notes

  • Color: Pale with light green reflections.
  • Nose: Expressive citrus and white peach, with a touch of white flowers (hawthorn) and a hint of oak.
  • Palate: Aromas of yellow-fleshed stone fruits—peach, apricot, mirabelle plum—alongside a subtle almond note.
  • Finish: Fresh, long and persistent, balanced by elegant acidity and pronounced notes of Corsican citron and pomelo peel.

Aging potential and serving

  • Optimal tasting window: 2024–2028.
  • Serving temperature: 10–12°C (50–53°F).
