The Clos de Tavannes sits adjacent to the celebrated terroirs of Chassagne-Montrachet, and in the hands of the Clair family it produces a Pinot Noir of genuine elegance, finesse, and surprising depth that punches well above its appellation's modest profile. Described by the domaine's admirers as the most complex Santenay Premier Cru in the Clair lineup — a wine of great finesse and beautiful length, where complexity unfolds in distinct and richly layered sequences on the palate, the Clos de Tavannes is the kind of red Burgundy that rewards both the curious newcomer and the seasoned collector equally. 

Crafted from Pinot Noir vines averaging 45 years of age planted in clay-limestone soils, aged approximately 15 months in oak, the 2023 vintage — a year of freshness, aromatic purity, and wonderfully balanced acidity across the Côte de Beaune — shows beautifully here. Translucent ruby in the glass, the nose is fragrant and classically Burgundian — red cherry, wild strawberry, dried rose, and a subtle earthy spice that speaks of old vines and limestone soils.
