From Zenata’s terroir and the long lineage of Domain Ouled Thaleb, the 2023 Ouled Thaleb - Syrah Syrocco Zenata captures a slice of Morocco’s winemaking history. The vineyard, planted in 1923 on sandy and schist soils in Benslimane, near Casablanca, contributed to a winery established in 1926 with its first vintage in 1927—Morocco’s oldest active winery. The Syrocco project, born in 2005 from a partnership between Thalvin and Alain Graillot, has helped bring Moroccan Syrah to a broader audience. The vineyard benefits from Atlantic breezes and sits at 500 meters above sea level, yielding a balanced, organic Syrah shaped by its clay and limestone soils.

Winemaking and style: TheSyrah is fermented in concrete vats and aged in tanks and oak barrels, a combination that preserves the wine’s structure while allowing nuanced development from oak influence and long élevage.
