2024 Baudry – Chinon Les Granges

From the Chinon region along the Vienne river, Les Granges is sourced from loose, well-draining soils on the riverbank—alluvial sands and gravels that warm quickly in sun, guiding Cabernet Franc toward ripeness while avoiding the austere vegetal notes the variety can show. This is Loire Cabernet Franc in its purest form: perfume-forward, fruit-driven, and attractive in its youth.

Matthieu Baudry’s domaine began with Bernard Baudry’s two hectares in 1975, and Matthieu joined in 2000, steering the estate toward organic farming to foster biodiversity and emphasize terroir. Les Granges embodies a low-intervention approach: aging exclusively in concrete, bottling unfiltered, and using barely any sulfur. The result is a suave, silky texture with a low tannic structure that lets the fruit and aromatic character take center stage.

Tasting notes: this cuvée delivers heady floral aromas and irresistible fruit. On the palate, it glides with a velvety texture and a refined fruit profile, supported by a light, delicate tannin and a wine-forward perfume that lingers gracefully.

Food pairing: it pairs beautifully with a simple meal made from fresh ingredients, allowing its aromatic lift and fruit to shine without overwhelming lighter dishes.
