NV Bérêche & Fils Brut Réserve Vieilles Vignes — Champagne, Montagne de Reims | 40% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Meunier | 95 pts Decanter

One of the most exciting grower-producer estates in all of Champagne — founded in 1847, now brilliantly stewarded by brothers Raphaël and Vincent Bérêche from their base in Ludes on the Montagne de Reims. The Vieilles Vignes designation signals fruit from the estate's oldest parcels, adding an extra layer of depth and complexity to the already impressive Brut Réserve. Certified organic, with base wines aged 70% in cask and 30% in tank, no malolactic fermentation, incorporating a 40% perpetual reserve component — disgorged at just 5.2 g/L dosage. Focused and stately on the nose — bright lemon and green apple acidity brightening a hazelnut brioche of creamy lees; firm citrus and spiced stone structuring the whole. Bright, full-bodied, and focused on the palate with lovely mid-palate depth, a good foundation of soil tones, elegant mousse, and a fine spine of acidity through a long, precise finish. One of the most compelling values among the top grower-producers. Drink now–2035.
