L'Encantada was founded in 2011 by a trio of sommeliers dedicated to sourcing rare single casks from small family domaines across Bas-Armagnac. Rather than blending across estates and vintages the way larger houses do, L'Encantada bottles each cask individually at full strength, with no additives or filtration, naming the specific domaine, grape variety, and cask on every label. This release comes from Domaine Le Frêche, whose vineyards sit near Labastide d'Armagnac, and represents one of the final casks the house sourced from that estate.

This 2006 vintage is made entirely from Baco grapes, distilled in a traditional column still and aged sixteen years before this cask was hand-selected for a collaborative bottling with DC's own Jack Rose. The spirit was drawn straight from barrel without dilution, landing at a robust 57.4 percent ABV, a proof that preserves the full intensity of the cask's character rather than softening it for a broader palate.

The nose is deep and racy, layered with toasted oak, baking spice, dried fruit, and vanilla. On the palate, spiced wood and caramelized sugar carry through to notes of dark fruit, all driven by the structured, powerful character typical of Baco. This is a bold, high-proof Armagnac built for sipping slowly, neat, and it has a way of winning over drinkers who usually reach for whiskey.
