The Poller family has been farming and making wine in the town of Röschitz in the western Weinviertel since 1660, and under the passionate stewardship of current winemaker Erwin Poller — who took over at just 24 and has transformed the estate into a certified organic benchmark — this humble liter bottle has become a genuine cult favorite among those in the know. 

Certified organic and vegan, Erwin farms his 20 hectares with an almost fanatical devotion to natural viticulture — famously deploying chickens in the vineyards to fertilize the soil, devour insects, and live their best lives, protected each evening by a solar-powered coop door — winemaking philosophy doesn't get more earnest or more charming than this. Grapes are hand-harvested and grown on complex soils of loess over chalk and granite, vinified with the estate's own yeast culture in stainless steel to preserve maximum freshness and varietal character. The result is quite full-bodied and more serious than most liter Grüners — beautifully balanced with citrus, green apple, ripe pear, and the grape's signature white pepper snap, underpinned by zesty acidity, spicy minerality, and a clean saline finish that keeps you reaching for another glass.
