2016 Chateau Latour Martillac - Pessac (750ml)
A Kressmann family estate with roots stretching to the 12th century, anchored by a medieval tower that gives the property its name — and one of Pessac-Léognan's most reliable overperformers at its price point. The 2016 has an understated nose at first, but it unfurls into a seductive Pessac-Léognan with ample blackberry and raspberry fruit and a subtle hint of black olive — the palate is medium-bodied with fine, supple tannins overlaid by blackberry and bilberry fruit, sea salt, and black pepper, showing excellent focus and abundant freshness on the finish. Smoke, thyme, cherry, and red plum on the nose; poised, refined, fresh, sweet, and juicy on the palate with silky tannins and a spicy nuance in the finish. 2016 is one of Bordeaux's finest recent vintages — structured, age-worthy, and generous.
