2023 Château Haut-Brion Pessac-Léognan This needs no introduction — and yet every vintage demands one. The oldest of Bordeaux's First Growths, the only non-Médoc estate in the original 1855 classification, and arguably the most distinctive and intellectually thrilling wine in all of Bordeaux. Haut-Brion's singular gravel-over-clay terroir in the heart of Pessac produces a wine that plays by no one's rules but its own — smoky, mineral, and hauntingly complex in a way that no other estate on earth can replicate. The 2023 vintage, widely heralded as one of the decade's most exciting, delivers Haut-Brion's iconic signature in breathtaking form — tobacco, graphite, dark plum, crushed stone, and that unmistakable bonfire-and-iron complexity that has mesmerized wine lovers for centuries. Silky, profound, and seemingly immortal on the finish. This is not merely a wine purchase — it is an acquisition of living history. One of the greatest estates on earth at the top of its game. Do not hesitate.

"The 2023 Haut-Brion was picked at the same time as the La Mission

Haut-Brion, albeit the secateurs sheathed one day later, on October 6.

The nose is less immediate than the La Mission and the fruit is a little

darker: blackcurrant, juniper, hints of black olive and a light cedar

scent. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grip and tension. This has

superb energy, presenting a crescendo of flavors toward a complex

and persistent finish that lingers in the mouth. There is real pedigree to

this First Growth, and it will certainly give 30 to 40 years of drinking

pleasure.
