Larcis Ducasse sits among the clay-limestone slopes of St-Émilion, a Premier Grand Cru Classé B that has been under the direction of Nicolas Thienpont since 2002 and is known for combining vivacity and elegance. The 2023 is 86% Merlot and 14% Cabernet Franc. Critics describe a cool, noble wine with floral notes, dark fruit, black cherry, and salty, stony minerality, silky and rich yet with real grip from mineral-edged tannins. Decanter noted chocolate, salty stones, and blackcurrants, and Vinum praised its great tension and saline finish. It’s built for the long haul and best from around 2029, though half bottles mature a little faster, so this is a smart way to check in early. A serious Right Bank wine in a convenient size.

95-97+ Points
"Another smoking effort in the vintage, the 2023 Château Larcis Ducasse has a medium to full-bodied, plush, sexy style as well as awesome aromatics of red and black fruits, smoked tobacco, chocolate, and spice. It brings way more depth and richness than most in the vintage, and it has ripe, polished tannins and a great finish. I was able to taste this beauty multiple times, and it never failed to impress. The blend is 86% Merlot and 14% Cabernet Franc, from the Côte Pavie hillside just outside of Saint-Emilion, and it’s currently resting in 50% new oak, with 40% in once-used barrels and 10% in foudre."
