2025 Chateau Pape Clement - Pessac (750ml) [Bordeaux Future ETA 2028]
Pape Clement, 7 centuries of history and the passion of a pope
Born more than seven centuries ago from the passion of Pope Clement V, Château Pape Clément is one of Bordeaux’s oldest Grands Crus. This Graves Grand Cru Classé, owned by Bernard Magrez since 1985, stands out for its exceptional terroir and strong identity. Rooted in tradition while embracing the most modern technologies, the estate constantly strives for precision and excellence in the crafting of its wines.
The 2025 vintage
The 2025 red vintage is among the earliest, marked by very rapid vine development throughout the season. The high proportion of clay in the soils played an essential role, helping the vines to better withstand the conditions while also contributing to the complexity that characterises the estate’s wines. The water deficit, combined with above-average temperatures, also encouraged excellent grape ripeness, particularly the development of tannins in the grape skins. These elements have produced a structured, complex red wine with great depth.
Tasting notes
Deep, dark colour, highlighted by violet reflections. The nose is very pure and intense, driven by aromas of ripe black fruits, accompanied by a floral touch and fine notes of graphite. On the palate, the wine reveals great elegance, with tannins that are both silky and structuring. The overall impression is balanced and fresh, leading to a long, elegant finish.
