Named for John, Abraham, Joseph, and Isaac Bowman, four brothers who served as Virginia militia officers in the American Revolutionary War before leading pioneer families west to establish Bowman's Station in Kentucky. Made at A. Smith Bowman Distillery in Fredericksburg, Virginia, this small batch bourbon is triple distilled through a unique copper still and aged around 6 to 7 years in new charred oak, blended in batches of just 2 to 5 barrels. Expect a nose of brown sugar, sweet cinnamon, and toasted oak, moving into a palate of candy apple, roasted corn, and light rye spice, finishing dry and warm. A genuinely characterful bourbon at a fair price, standing out from the crowded mid-shelf field.
