Henry McKenna emigrated from Ireland to Kentucky in 1837, bringing with him a family whiskey recipe that he adapted to the corn, rye, and barley he found in his new home. He settled in Fairfield, Kentucky, and built a distillery that remained in family hands until 1941, when it eventually passed to Heaven Hill, the Bardstown producer that continues to make it today using the same exacting standards.

This bourbon is a single barrel, bottled-in-bond expression, meaning it comes from one distillery and a single distilling season, aged in a federally supervised warehouse, and bottled at exactly 100 proof. The mash bill leans heavily on corn, rounded out with rye and malted barley. What sets this release apart is its age: a full decade spent maturing through forty Kentucky seasons, far longer than the four-year minimum the bottled-in-bond designation requires, giving the barrel ample time to shape the spirit.

The result opens with vanilla, caramel, and seasoned oak, lifted by a light herbaceous note. On the palate, honey and toffee mingle with warm cinnamon spice and well-integrated wood, leading into a long, sweet, and spicy finish.
