Founded in 1997 by father-son team Chet and Trey Zoeller, Jefferson's built its reputation on experimental aging — most famously Jefferson's Ocean, matured at sea. This release strips that back to basics: an 8-year-old Kentucky bourbon, non-chill filtered, bottled uncut at a brawny 130 proof with no cask finishing. A blend of just over 1,000 barrels across four different Kentucky bourbons, it shows a nose of baked apple, vanilla, caramel, and toasted oak with a touch of leather, moving into a bold, fruit-forward palate of red fruit, cherry, and barrel spice, with citrus and charred oak emerging with a splash of water. The brand's purest, highest-proof expression to date — and by Whisky Advocate's own account, its best in years.
