Osborne's story begins in the late eighteenth century, when a young English merchant named Thomas Osborne Mann arrived in Cádiz to trade in the wines of the region. He soon established his own winery in El Puerto de Santa María, and what started as a small commercial venture grew over two centuries into one of Jerez's most recognized producers. The Carlos I brandy line dates to 1889 and takes its name from King Charles I of Spain, chosen for a spirit the house considered fit for royalty.

This Amontillado Cask expression begins its life in the standard Carlos I solera before receiving an extended finish in centuries-old, hand-selected butts from the Solera de Amontillado La Honda, a separate aging system that dates back to 1857. That finishing period draws out the nutty, saline character typical of long-aged Amontillado sherry, layering it over the brandy's existing depth.

In the glass, this brandy shows a deep amber color with golden and reddish reflections. The nose carries roasted almonds and hazelnuts alongside dried fruit, vanilla, and fine oak, with a subtle mineral edge. The palate turns silky and comparatively dry, echoing that same toasted nut character, and the finish runs long, elegant, and gently spiced.
