Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat began in 1962 when Alain Hudelot established the estate in Chambolle-Musigny, and grew significantly in the 1970s when he added vineyards brought into the marriage by his wife, Odile Noëllat. Their grandson, Charles van Canneyt, now farms about ten hectares spread across some of the Côte de Nuits' most prestigious sites, working with a light hand in the cellar to preserve the natural elegance of the fruit.

Au Bas de Combe sits on the unfrosted, Vosne-Romanée side of Nuits-Saint-Georges, just below the premier cru Les Boudots, from vines planted about forty years ago. The grapes are hand-harvested and sorted, mostly destemmed, and fermented with native yeasts. The wine is then aged in oak for around sixteen months, with roughly thirty percent new barrels, before bottling without fining or filtration.

The 2022 shows a pale pink to crimson color, with a clear, fresh bouquet leaning toward red fruit rather than the darker plum notes typical of the other side of the village. The palate turns a touch darker, with the same clarity and precision that defines Charles van Canneyt's wines. It is a light, elegant expression of Nuits-Saint-Georges rather than a muscular one, showing the Vosne-Romanée influence on this stretch of the appellation.
