2022 Domaine Louis Boillot · Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru "Les Pruliers"

Region Nuits-Saint-Georges, Côte de Nuits, Burgundy
Producer Domaine Louis Boillot & Fils
Grape 100% Pinot Noir
Classification Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru
Vineyard Les Pruliers, 70+ year old vines
Drink 2029–2037+

Pruliers is widely considered one of the finest premier cru sites in all of Nuits-Saint-Georges — a south-facing slope with deep, iron-rich soils that produces wines of uncommon power and complexity. Boillot's parcel is planted to vines over 70 years old, and it shows: the 2022 is a wine of serious depth, with a heady, effusively spicy nose of game, earth, floral notes, sandalwood, and wild dark berries, followed by a velvety, muscular palate coated in dry extract that builds to a long, impeccably balanced finish. Meadows calls it "wonderfully complex" and "highly recommended, provided that you have the intention of cellaring it properly" — this is not a wine for near-term drinking. A benchmark expression of Pruliers from one of the Côte de Nuits' most trusted small producers.

91-94 Points
"An overtly floral-suffused nose speaks of airy red berry scents that are liberally laced with a lovely range of spice elements as well as subtle earth and humus nuances. There is markedly better complexity to the medium-bodied flavors that possess excellent punch and this sense of vibrancy also can be found on the long and quite firm finish that is moderately austere but not really rustic, indeed I would go so far as to describe this as a Pruliers of relative refinement, which isn't something one finds all the time."
