Burghound has called the Clos de Vougeot "a serious standout" in the Hudelot-Noëllat lineup, and it remains one of the estate's most powerful and structured expressions — the counterpart to the silky elegance of the RSV and Richebourg. The 2024 vintage was challenging: Charles van Canneyt harvested on September 18, destemming everything given elevated pH ("stems would have been a catastrophe"), and produced just 30% of his normal volume across the estate. The resulting wines are concentrated and precise. The Clos de Vougeot shows ripe raspberry, pomegranate, and red fruit with firm, crisp tannins and real presence on the finish — a wine that needs cellar time to fully integrate its structure. Extremely limited production makes this one of the rarest Hudelot-Noëllat releases in recent memory.
