2024 Alain Hudelot-Noëllat · Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru

Region Vougeot, Côte de Nuits, Burgundy
Producer Domaine Alain Hudelot-Noëllat (Charles van Canneyt)
Grape 100% Pinot Noir
Classification Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru
Winemaking 100% destemmed, cold maceration, indigenous yeast, 16 months in 50% new oak, unfiltered
Production Dramatically reduced — 70% less than usual in 2024
Drink 2027–2037+

Burghound has called the Clos de Vougeot "a serious standout" in the Hudelot-Noëllat lineup, and it remains one of the estate's most powerful and structured expressions — the counterpart to the silky elegance of the RSV and Richebourg. The 2024 vintage was challenging: Charles van Canneyt harvested on September 18, destemming everything given elevated pH ("stems would have been a catastrophe"), and produced just 30% of his normal volume across the estate. The resulting wines are concentrated and precise. The Clos de Vougeot shows ripe raspberry, pomegranate, and red fruit with firm, crisp tannins and real presence on the finish — a wine that needs cellar time to fully integrate its structure. Extremely limited production makes this one of the rarest Hudelot-Noëllat releases in recent memory.

92-94 Points
"The 2024 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru has a perfumed, floral bouquet, desiccated rose petals infusing the wild strawberry, raspberry and cranberry aromas. Refined and elegant. The palate is medium-bodied with a sorbet-fresh entry, quite citrus-driven with a keen line of acidity. Doesn't quite fan out like the previous couple of vintages but there is commendable purity and poise.
