Region Vosne-Romanée, Côte de Nuits, Burgundy
Producer Domaine Alain Hudelot-Noëllat (Charles van Canneyt)
Grape 100% Pinot Noir
Vineyard 0.48 ha parcel, vines planted 1920, adjacent to DRC
Aging 16 months in 50% new oak, unfiltered
Drink 2032–2060+

Romanée-Saint-Vivant is always the grand finale at Hudelot-Noëllat, and the estate's 0.48-hectare holding — planted in 1920, directly bordering the vines of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti — is among the most historically significant parcels in all of Burgundy. Under Charles van Canneyt, Alain Hudelot's grandson, the wines have reached new heights of precision and purity while maintaining the domaine's signature silkiness and terroir transparency. RSV tends toward elegance and finesse rather than power at Hudelot-Noëllat — mineral-driven, floral, and fine-boned, with layers of red fruit, crushed stone, and exotic spice that build with time. The 2024 shows all of this in abundance: Jasper Morris calls it a wine of outstanding quality, and it stands as one of the domaine's finest recent efforts. Patience required, but the pedigree is unquestionable.

96 pts Jasper Morris MW (Inside Burgundy)

94-96 Points
"The 2024 Romanée-Saint-Vivant Grand Cru has a beautiful bouquet with vivacious red fruit, crushed stone, violet and iris flower that collectively blossom in the glass. Nice aromatic chorus line. The palate is well defined with a satin-textured opening, fine acidity, dark plum and just a hint of chocolate emerging with time. Maybe just a little conservative at the moment but it will flourish once in bottle this year.
This challenges the notional supremacy of the Richebourg
