2024 Alain Hudelot-Noëllat · Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru "Les Beaumonts"

Region Vosne-Romanée, Côte de Nuits, Burgundy
Producer Domaine Alain Hudelot-Noëllat (Charles van Canneyt)
Grape 100% Pinot Noir
Vineyard Les Beaumonts, 0.32 ha, vines planted 1920, high on the slope above Richebourg
Aging 16 months in 50% new oak, unfiltered
Production Dramatically reduced — 70% less than usual in 2024
Drink 2029–2042+

Les Beaumonts sits high on the Vosne-Romanée hillside directly above Richebourg, on soils that tend toward power and minerality — the Hudelot-Noëllat house descriptor for this cru is simply "a lot of power and minerality," and the 0.32-hectare parcel planted in 1920 delivers consistently structured, age-demanding wines that reward patience. In 2024, Charles van Canneyt harvested September 18, destemmed 100%, and made just 30% of his usual production across the estate. The Beaumonts shows its characteristic density and concentration — rich, dark-fruited, and serious on the mid-palate, with the firm but refined tannin structure and long mineral finish that defines this high-altitude site. A wine for the cellar.

90-93 Points
"There is a whiff of volatile acidity floating in the background of the high-toned aromas of red currant, cherry and plentitude of spice nuances. The super-sleek and beautifully delineated flavors also exude a borderline aggressive minerality that exhibit solid length. Note that the VA is sufficiently subtle that I doubt most tasters would be unduly bothered by it."
