2020 Morisoli - Cabernet Sauvignon Rutherford (750ml)
2020 Morisoli Cabernet Sauvignon — Rutherford, Napa Valley
Rooted in a Napa Valley legacy that began in 1902, Morisoli Vineyard remains one of the valley’s longest‑running family estates. This 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon comes from the oldest vines on the 53‑acre property, a tiny fraction of the harvest dedicated to this Bottling—roughly two percent—crafted to express the unmistakable character of Rutherford. Fifth generation Morisoli, working with consulting winemaker Joel Aiken, draws out the classic Rutherford profile from these hillside blocks on the Rutherford Bench.
Situated on the Rutherford Bench, a gravelly, well‑drained alluvial fan formed over millennia from the Mayacamas range, the vineyard sits among renowned neighbors like Inglenook and Scarecrow. The fruit for this wine reflects the site’s concentrated depth, anchored by the oldest Cabernet Sauvignon vines on the estate. The wine spends a substantial aging period in a majority of new French oak barrels for well over two years, a deliberate choice that lets the soil’s balance of richness and structure shine through while shaping a poised, age‑worthy bottle.
Nose and palate: The bouquet offers sarsaparilla, boysenberry, and earthy undertones, while the palate balances bright freshness with generous richness. Firm, structured tannins point to genuine aging potential, inviting thoughtful decanting or cellar time to reveal additional complexity.
Food pairing: This Cabernet Sauvignon pairs beautifully with grilled ribeye, roasted lamb, or aged Gouda, making it a versatile partner for hearty, savory dishes and aged cheeses.
