2023 Decoy - Cabernet Sauvignon Sonoma (750ml)

Decoy is the approachable label from the Duckhorn family, founded by Dan and Margaret Duckhorn and built on decades of experience with Cabernet Sauvignon. It is crafted to deliver fruit-forward, polished reds that are ready to enjoy on release, while drawing on the winemaking know-how of its Napa Valley parent.

The 2023 growing season in California began with abundant winter rains, followed by a cool spring that delayed ripening by two to four weeks. Harvest ran from early September to early November, and the long season gave the wines depth, texture, and rich color. This Cabernet blends 76 percent Cabernet Sauvignon with 24 percent Merlot from vineyards across Sonoma County, the Central Coast, and Mendocino County. It was aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, 40 percent new and 60 percent neutral, and finishes at 14.1 percent alcohol.

Dark cherry, raspberry, baking spice, and cola rise from the glass, framed by subtle toasty oak. The palate delivers juicy blackberry supported by silky tannins and bright acidity, with a medium oak structure. A smooth, creamy texture carries through to a long, balanced finish.
