2020 Jordan Winery - Cabernet Sauvignon Sonoma County Alexander Valley (750ml)
Jordan Vineyard & Winery was founded in 1972 by Tom and Sally Jordan, who set out to craft a Cabernet Sauvignon in the elegant, food-friendly spirit of Bordeaux rather than the bigger, riper style common in California at the time. Based in Healdsburg, the estate released its first vintage in 1976 and remains family owned, now guided by CEO John Jordan. Since 2012, a significant share of the winery's profits has supported the John Jordan Foundation, which works to address poverty through education and health initiatives in local communities.
The 2020 vintage blends eighty-three percent Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot, Petit Verdot, and a touch of Malbec, drawing on more than fifty vineyard blocks across the Jordan estate and fourteen family grower partners, with fruit sourced primarily from Alexander Valley and a smaller portion from Mendocino County. Grapes were harvested over several weeks in September and October, and the wine aged thirteen months in French oak barriques, just under half of them new.
Aromas of ripe black cherry, currant, and boysenberry mingle with delicate cedar, while the palate unfolds with blueberry, cranberry, and clove, all wrapped in smooth, well-integrated tannins. It's a natural match for beef bourguignon, grilled New York strip, or roasted root vegetables.
