The Calling was founded by broadcaster Jim Nantz and wine entrepreneur Peter Deutsch, who discovered a shared philosophy after each built a career around pursuing a genuine calling. For Nantz, that meant a decades-long path to becoming one of the most recognized voices in sports broadcasting, while Deutsch transformed his family's business into a respected international wine company. Inspired by their mentors and guided by shared values, the two partners set out to craft wines that reflect a standard of excellence and personal dedication.

This Cabernet Sauvignon comes from Alexander Valley, a warm Sonoma County appellation just south of Calistoga that functions almost as a northern extension of Napa Valley. The Russian River winds through the region, tempering the heat and creating cooler pockets, while the valley's alluvial soils are especially well suited to Cabernet Sauvignon, which accounts for more than half of local plantings. The grapes were hand harvested and aged in oak barrels to build depth and structure.

Deep cherry red in the glass, this wine offers aromas of black fruit, toasted spice, blackcurrant, and dark chocolate. The palate is rich and layered, with ripe blackberry, black pepper, vanilla, and cinnamon framed by soft, velvety tannins and a long finish. It pairs well with grilled ribeye, lamb chops, or aged cheddar.

91 Points
"Iron, cedar and wood-char aromas waft from the glass before potent black fruits, dark oak spices and espresso flavors fill the mouth. A full web of tannins holds together blackberries, blueberries and singed-herb notes."
