Anthill Farms was founded in 2004 by three friends, Anthony Filiberti, David Low, and Webster Marquez, who met while working together at the well-regarded Williams Selyem winery. The name grew out of an inside joke: colleagues watching the trio scramble around a shared crush pad said it looked like a bunch of ants at work. That collaborative, hands-on spirit still defines the winery, which sources fruit from small, cool-climate vineyard plots across Sonoma and Mendocino and lets each site speak for itself with minimal intervention in the cellar.

Peters Vineyard sits on an east-facing slope near Sebastopol, on Goldridge soils in the western reaches of the Sonoma Coast. Morning fog and cooling Pacific winds slow ripening through the growing season, preserving acidity in the Pommard and Dijon clone vines planted here in the early 1980s. The fruit is farmed organically, fermented with native yeasts and roughly 30 percent whole clusters, then aged about fifteen months in French oak, a quarter of it new, with gentle handling meant to showcase the vineyard's character rather than winemaking technique.

The wine shows dark cherry, baking spice, dried tea leaf, and a lifted floral quality, with a texture that balances real power against genuine elegance. Layers of red berry and earthy depth carry through a long finish. It pairs beautifully with roast duck, wild mushroom dishes, or a well-aged gouda.

"Dark red color. The low yields of the vintage are apparent here. Darker flavors of cherry liqueur, rose petal, cinnamon, black tea and wood spice are usual from the start. After and hour of being open aromas and flavors begin to jump from the glass and coat the palate. This is deliciously impactful in the mouth with its texture and perfume that turn more and more elegant over time." "
