2022 Massican - White Blend Napa Annia
Annia is the signature white blend from Massican, crafted by Dan Petroski, the 2017 San Francisco Chronicle Winemaker of the Year. The 2022 vintage is a blend of 41% Ribolla Gialla, 33% Tocai Friulano, and 26% Chardonnay, finishing at 12.4% alcohol. Rooted in Friulian winemaking tradition but grown in Napa Valley, this wine offers a distinctly Mediterranean take on California white wine.
In the glass it shows a pale gold color, with aromas of yellow herbs, bee pollen, white flowers, and Asian pear. The nose carries notes of lemon curd, honeysuckle, chamomile, dried apricot, and almond skin, while the palate delivers bold citrus, yellow apple, peach, and struck stone minerality, finished with a touch of sea salt. The texture is silky, with excellent, crystalline acidity that keeps the wine lifted and bright.
