Aubert Wines was founded in 1999 by Mark and Teresa Aubert, whose partnership grew out of a shared devotion to white Burgundy. Mark built his winemaking foundation working under Helen Turley at Peter Michael, then went on to Colgin and Bryant Family before striking out on his own. That pedigree shaped a house style rooted in single vineyard bottlings, meticulous farming, and a reverence for Burgundian technique applied to California fruit. Aubert wines are produced in small lots and distributed largely through a mailing list, which has helped cultivate the label's cult following among collectors of serious domestic Chardonnay.

Park Avenue Estate sits on the Sonoma Coast between the Aubert-owned Lauren and CIX vineyards, on a site that was once an apple orchard before Mark Aubert acquired and replanted it in 2013. The vineyard is planted predominantly to Hyde clone Chardonnay with a small amount of Montrachet selection, rooted in soils shaped by ancient seabed deposits that lend the wine its distinctive mineral character. Yields are kept low, and the wine undergoes full malolactic fermentation with extended aging in a high proportion of new French oak, echoing the grand cru white Burgundies that first inspired Aubert's winemaking path.

This Chardonnay opens with lemon curd, white peach, and pear, layered with hints of toasted hazelnut and brioche. The palate is full bodied yet lifted, with a creamy texture balanced by bright acidity and a long, saline finish. It pairs beautifully with roasted halibut, seared scallops, or a simple roast chicken with herbs.

98 Points
"The 2024 Chardonnay Park Avenue Estate is sourced entirely from estate fruit and already shows impressive complexity. Raw hazelnut, gunflint, and orchard fruit aromas lead into a palate that combines glycerin-like richness with terrific acidity and lift. Full-bodied and concentrated, it nevertheless maintains outstanding balance and weightlessness. Deeply layered and remarkably long, it carries substantial intensity without ever becoming sweet or heavy. Drink 2026-2040."
