Aubert Wines was founded in 1999 by Mark and Teresa Aubert, built on a philosophy of small, single vineyard bottlings and painstaking, hands-on farming. Mark's formative years working under Helen Turley at Peter Michael, followed by stints at Colgin and Bryant Family, shaped a winemaking approach centered on low yields, native fermentation, and letting each individual site speak clearly through the finished wine. While the winery first built its reputation on Chardonnay, its Pinot Noir program has grown into an equally serious pursuit, sourced from a small collection of estate and grower vineyards scattered across the Sonoma Coast and Sebastopol Hills, each bottled separately to preserve its own character.

Park Avenue Estate sits in the Sebastopol Hills on a former apple orchard that Mark Aubert replanted in 2013, its fourth estate vineyard and one defined by iron-rich, ancient seabed soils and a cooling maritime influence. The Pinot Noir plantings there come from cuttings sourced at the Aubert-owned UV vineyard. Fruit is native-yeast fermented with extended maceration on the skins, then aged in French oak, an approach that favors structure and precision over sheer weight, allowing the site's particular minerality to come through.

The wine offers wild cherry, Santa Rosa plum, and hibiscus up front, giving way to graphite, iron ore, and a touch of menthol on a long, savory finish. Fine, glossy tannins and bright acidity keep the wine taut rather than heavy. It pairs nicely with duck breast, grilled salmon, or a simple herb-roasted lamb.

97 Points
"The 2024 Pinot Noir Park Avenue Estate is deeper and broader in profile, revealing black cherry cordial, ripe tannins, resinous earth, sage, and crushed violets. More full-bodied than many wines in the range, it offers graphite, iron, and Sebastopol clay-driven richness beneath its fruit. Extended maceration contributes additional structure and depth. This should become increasingly brooding and complex with time in bottle. Drink 2026-2046."
