2024 Aubert - Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast UV (750ml) [PRE ARRIVAL]
Aubert Wines has built its reputation over the past two and a half decades on a small collection of named, single vineyard Chardonnay and Pinot Noir sites across Sonoma and Napa. Founders Mark and Teresa Aubert established the winery in 1999, with Mark drawing on lessons learned under Helen Turley at Peter Michael and later at Colgin and Bryant Family. His Pinot Noir program has grown alongside long relationships with the growers who tend these sites, none more storied than the late Ulises Valdez, whose family continues to farm several of the vineyards that bear his name across the Aubert lineup.
UV Vineyard sits in western Sonoma County near Sebastopol, planted in 2001 on soils rich in clay and sand that give the wine its characteristic perfume and plush texture. Mark Aubert's winemaking here follows the same hands-on philosophy applied throughout the Pinot Noir range, with whole cluster fermentation using native yeasts and extended maceration on the skins to build complexity without heaviness. The result is a wine aimed at pure aromatic expression rather than sheer power, letting the clay-driven character of the site come through clearly in the glass.
The 2024 UV Vineyard Pinot Noir is soft and enveloping, layered with spicy floral notes of hibiscus, rose, and lilac over a core of cherry and raspberry coulis. The texture is voluptuous, with fine tannins and a long, perfumed finish. It pairs well with roast duck, seared tuna, or a Moroccan-spiced lamb tagine.
