2024 Rombauer - Chardonnay Carneros Napa (750ml)
Rombauer Vineyards was founded in 1980 by Koerner and Joan Rombauer, who had moved to Napa Valley in 1972 after Koerner's career as a commercial airline pilot for Braniff International. Koerner was the great-nephew of Irma Rombauer, author of the beloved American cookbook The Joy of Cooking, and that family legacy of hospitality and generosity became a defining thread of the winery's identity. Rombauer released its first Chardonnay from the Carneros region in 1990, and the wine has since grown into one of California's most recognized styles.
Carneros sits where San Pablo Bay meets the southern tips of Napa and Sonoma, its cooling winds and fog shaping grapes with bright natural acidity even as they ripen fully. The 2024 vintage blends Rombauer's estate fruit with grapes sourced from respected growing partners, including the Sangiacomo family. The wine was whole-cluster pressed, taken through full malolactic fermentation, and stirred on its lees every seven to ten days, then aged nine months in French and American oak, thirty-seven percent of it new.
Aromas of yellow peach and ripe melon meet bright citrus on the nose, while the palate turns creamy and rich with vanilla and buttery nuances, all lifted by Rombauer's signature acidity. It pairs beautifully with crab cakes, lobster bisque, or a creamy chicken piccata.
