Sonoma-Cutrer was founded in 1973 by Brice Cutrer Jones, a former Air Force pilot who turned to winemaking after earning his MBA. He spent the better part of a decade planting and studying vineyard sites across the Russian River Valley and Sonoma Coast before opening the winery itself in 1981, building a reputation for Chardonnay of Burgundian precision grown entirely in Sonoma soil. The estate joined the Duckhorn Portfolio in 2023, continuing its long-standing focus on vineyard-designated Chardonnay.

This bottling is an assemblage of select lots drawn from across the Sonoma Coast appellation, anchored by fruit from the estate's own Cutrer Vineyard, where vines are farmed with meticulous attention in rocky, alluvial soils. Fruit from the sandy, clay-loam Vine Hill Vineyard rounds out the blend, adding depth and texture to the wine's overall structure.

The wine pours a rich medium-straw color, with aromas of stone fruit, apple blossom, honeydew, and pineapple layered over subtle oak spice. On the palate, ripe pear and golden delicious apple carry through a supple mid-palate, balanced by bright acidity and a gentle spiced finish. Serve it with grilled swordfish, Dungeness crab cakes, or aged Manchego.
