Crown Royal was created in 1939 by Samuel Bronfman, president of the Seagram Company, as a tribute to the first visit of a reigning British monarch to Canada, when King George VI and Queen Elizabeth toured the country that year. The whisky remained a Canada-only release until 1964, when it expanded into international markets and grew into the top-selling Canadian whisky brand in the United States. Production still takes place entirely at the Gimli, Manitoba distillery on the shores of Lake Winnipeg, where the whisky is distilled from rye, corn, and barley before being shipped to Amherstburg, Ontario, for final blending and bottling. Regal Apple belongs to Crown Royal's Flavor Series, which reimagines the brand's classic blend with fruit and dessert-inspired infusions.

This expression begins with Crown Royal whiskies hand-selected by the brand's master blender, then infused with the flavor of Regal Gala apples to produce a brighter, more tart profile than the base whisky alone. The apple character is built to complement rather than mask the underlying blend, keeping traces of the caramel and light spice notes that define standard Crown Royal. The finished whisky is bottled at 70 proof, or 35% alcohol by volume.

The nose brings crisp green apple layered with light cinnamon and caramel. On the palate, that same tart apple sweetness continues alongside vanilla, warm baking spice, and a touch of oak from the whisky base. The finish is smooth and moderately lingering, with the apple note softening into gentle spice and caramel as it fades. It works particularly well chilled, over ice, or mixed into a simple ginger ale cocktail.
