NV Taittinger - Champagne Brut Reserve FIFA World Cup Edition (750ml)
Founded in 1734, Champagne Taittinger is one of the last major family-owned houses still standing in the region, having been taken over by Pierre Taittinger in 1931 along with the estate's magnificent 13th-century cellars, once part of the Saint-Nicaise Abbey in Reims. The house has built its reputation on Chardonnay-forward blending, an approach that sets it apart from other large houses that lean more heavily on Pinot Noir. Today led by Chairman Vitalie Taittinger, the estate draws primarily on its own 712 acres of vineyards, including Grand Cru holdings in the Côte des Blancs and Montagne de Reims, and has served as the official Champagne of FIFA for over a decade, marking this partnership with a special collector's bottle for the 2026 World Cup, hosted jointly by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
This limited edition presents Taittinger's flagship Brut Réserve in a striking matte black bottle with holographic gradients in red, green, and blue, representing the tournament's three host nations, inspired by the movement and stitching of a football. Inside is the same classic blend of 40% Chardonnay, 35% Pinot Noir, and 25% Pinot Meunier sourced from more than 35 villages that defines the house style, aged on its lees for three to four years, well beyond Champagne's legal minimum.
The wine shows a pale golden color with persistent fine bubbles, offering fresh green fruit, white flowers, and brioche with a hint of vanilla. The palate is dry, elegant, and refreshing, with excellent balance and finesse. It's lovely with light canapés and seafood, or simply poured for a celebratory toast.
