2022 Jean-Claude Ramonet - St. Aubin Les Charmois (750ml) (PRE ARRIVAL)

Domaine Jean-Claude Ramonet is one of Chassagne-Montrachet's most celebrated white wine houses, its foundations laid by grandfather Pierre Ramonet, who arrived in Burgundy in the 1920s and built up vineyard holdings parcel by parcel, capping his career with the purchase of a plot of Montrachet in 1978. Grandsons Jean-Claude and Noël took over the estate in 1984 and have since extended its reach into neighboring Saint-Aubin.

Les Charmois sits on the Chassagne-Montrachet side of Saint-Aubin, on steep, calcareous slopes with a warmer, south and west facing exposure that tends to produce riper, more generous wines than other sites in the appellation. As across the domaine, vines average around sixty years old, yields are kept low, and grapes are hand-harvested. The wine ages twelve to fifteen months in a mix of new and used French oak, with extended lees contact and light filtration before bottling.

The wine offers aromas of citrus, grapefruit, and hawthorn blossom, with a subtle minerality and hints of vanilla and roasted hazelnut. Medium-bodied and velvety, it shows ripe pear on the palate, balanced acidity, and a long finish. Serve with grilled sole, roast pork tenderloin, or an aged alpine cheese.
