The de Montille name is inseparable from Volnay, where the family's winemaking roots stretch back to the fourteenth century. The historic estate shrank to under three hectares by the 1940s before Hubert de Montille began rebuilding it into the celebrated domaine it is today. His son Étienne later launched Maison de Montille, a complementary négociant project aimed at small, often overlooked terroirs scattered across Burgundy, applying the same exacting standards the family built its reputation on.

Les Clous Dessous is one of those terroirs, a Meursault vineyard sourced from grapes farmed biodynamically before being brought into the Maison's cellar. Winemakers describe it as a true hillside Meursault, with more grip and mineral steel than the appellation's sunnier, richer examples. The wine ages in a mix of older and newer barrels, aimed at building texture without letting oak dominate the finished wine.

The nose shows yellow apple, toasted nuts, vanilla, and honey, leading into a palate that is rich yet precise, with real energy and a nervy, mineral edge beneath the fruit. Try it with roast chicken, grilled trout, or a creamy seafood dish.
