2023 Marc Colin - St. Aubin Cuvee Luce (750ml)

Domaine Marc Colin was founded in 1970 by Marc Colin, and many of its vines, inherited through both the Colin and Ponavoy family lines, have been farmed for well over a century. Two of his four children, Damien and Caroline, now run the estate after their brothers left to start their own domaines in 2005 and 2017. Under their direction the cellar has shifted toward more precise, terroir-focused winemaking, with less new oak and greater reliance on large barrels and foudres.

Cuvée Luce is blended from three parcels around the village of Saint-Aubin that differ in vine age, exposure and soil type, a mix meant to add complexity and balance. The grapes are hand-harvested and fermented, then aged in a combination of large barrels and foudres rather than small new oak, preserving freshness while still building texture.

The wine offers crisp pear, white flowers, honeysuckle and freshly baked bread on the nose, with a savory hint of toasted hazelnut. The palate is medium to full bodied, ample and precise, with lively acidity that carries into a chalky, mouthwatering finish. Serve it with poached cod, roast pork tenderloin, or a creamy brie.
