Domaine Marc Morey traces back to 1919, when Fernand Morey began farming vines in Chassagne-Montrachet. His son, the eponymous Marc Morey, ran the estate through the second half of the twentieth century, and today it is led by Marc's granddaughter, Sabine Mollard, who joined in 2003 alongside her husband Bernard. The family farms about nine hectares, almost entirely within Chassagne-Montrachet, with a deep commitment to expressing each individual site.

Charmois sits on an east-facing slope in Saint-Aubin, an extension of the same ridge that runs through Chassagne-Montrachet, giving the wine more richness than many Saint-Aubins. The Chardonnay is hand-harvested and fermented, then aged in oak barrels through the winter and into the following year, with careful attention paid to keeping the site's natural tension and minerality intact.

The nose is tightly wound, with crushed stone and orchard fruit joined by notes of white tea and chamomile, giving the wine a Puligny-like edge. The palate has real tension on the entry, opening into white peach and citrus with a light prickle of ginger on the finish. Serve it with grilled shrimp, roast turkey, or a young Alpine cheese.

92 Points
"The 2023 Saint-Aubin Charmois 1er Cru is one of the hidden gems of the

domaine. This is taut and minerally on the nose, with wet limestone

undertones infusing the malic scents. The palate is underpinned by a fine

bead of acidity, lovely balance and hints of apricot decorating the poised

finish. This should drink well for the next decade but will be tempting in its

youth.
