The Bouzereau family has made wine around Meursault for seven generations, though Domaine Michel Bouzereau was not formally established until 1971. Michel's son, Jean-Baptiste, inherited the domaine in 1999 and has since scaled back practices like lees stirring in favor of a fresher, more precise style. The estate now farms about eleven hectares across Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet, Volnay, Pommard and Beaune.

Despite its regional Bourgogne label, this wine is essentially an insider's Meursault. It comes from a walled, one-hectare parcel that Jean-Baptiste acquired in 2017, sitting just outside the official appellation boundary beside Les Petits Charrons and Les Chevalières, on alluvial soil along the river. The forty-year-old vines are aged a full year in barrel, twenty percent new, then finished in tank for a few months before bottling.

The nose is rich and nuanced yet crisply fresh, with ripe pear and nectarine joined by butter and spice that give away its true origins. The palate is dense without feeling heavy, generous and long for a wine carrying only a regional label. Honeysuckle, lemon and roasted nuts round out the finish. Serve it with roast turkey, herb-crusted pork, or a nutty aged cheese.
